Biosignal sharing
In this line of research, we are exploring the opportunities of shared biosignals for social interactions. The physiological measurements (e.g. heartrate, skin conductance, respiration rate) are used as communication cues in the (remote) interaction, providing additional information about the interactional partner’s emotions and experiences.
The video below (in Dutch) presents a prototype of an application that augments videocalls with feedback on the other person’s stress level. This tool was tested in a pilot with practitioners and received very positive comments, especially for specific treatments such as exposure and EMDR.
After these pilots, we have further developed this tool for a more elaborate field study with mental healthcare professionals to investigate its added value in clinical practice. Interested in participating? Contact us!
